A disappointed Beaven Sibanda is asking a number of questions after his fight against reigning South African minimumweight champion Siyakholwa Kuse, which was scheduled for Saturday, 15 June at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, was cancelled.

The fight, which many boxing followers have been calling for, was cancelled after a meeting between Kuse’s manager Mlandeli Tengimfene and Golden Gloves boss Rodney Berman this week.

Tengimfene made it known that a fight against the unbeaten Zimbabwean was a risky affair, especially with Sibanda not being rated by any of the top four world boxing bodies while Kuse is sixth in the World Boxing Council (WBC) ratings.

“I was really heartbroken when I heard the news that he’s no longer fighting me. I was prepared to showcase what I’m capable of. Then when I heard their reasons that I was not bringing anything to the table I understood,” Sibanda said.

“But that was pathetic because they had accepted the fight. They knew where I was. Why did they change after that? For me, it’s just another duck. I have been calling them out since. I believe they ducked.”

Sibanda has won all his six fights with two of those wins coming from stoppages while Kuse has registered six victories with three knockouts, two losses and a draw.
