Following his win over RV Deniega from the Philippines two months ago, Charlton ‘Baby Pain’ Malajika is getting ready to be antagonised by yet another Filipino boxer in Froilan ‘The Sniper’ Saludar.

Trained by Manny Fernandes, Malajika outpointed Deniega in a vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Youth bantamweight title fight early in July. And now Malajika is going to clash against Saludar at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday, 4 October.

“Charlton is looking very good. He’s getting better and better. He’s in exceptionally good condition at the moment. Everything is going very well,” Fernandes remarked.

Fernandes has added that everything is on track in as far as preparations for the Saludar fight are concerned. And Malajika has received some assistance from his elder brother Ricardo Malajika, the reigning IBO junior-bantamweight champion.

“Charlton has had very good sparring with Ricardo. I’m looking forward to a very good performance come the fourth of October,” Fernandes said.

The 24-year-old Malajika has done very well, recording eight successive wins since he lost to Zimbabwean boxer Ndabezinhle Phiri on debut in May 2023.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Saludar is an experienced campaigner, who is a former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Asia-Pacific junior-bantamweight champion.
