Boxing South Africa (BSA) has wished Thulani ‘Evolution’ Mbenge and Landile ‘Man Down’ Ngxeke good luck ahead of their fights.

Mbenge makes the first defence of his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) welterweight title against Russian boxer Vadim Musaev at the Duty-Free Tennis Stadium, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday.

On the other hand, Ngxeke clashes with Mexican boxer José Manuel Salas Reyes in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title contest in Mexico City on Saturday (Sunday morning, South African time).

Mbenge won the IBO crown after he outpointed Briton Michael McKinson at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick, in London, United Kingdom, in October last year.

The 34-year-old Mbenge meets the Russian on the back of a win over Namibian foe Emmanuel Mungandjela at the Sunbet Arena, Pretoria, in May.

Meanwhile, Ngxeke, a South African bantamweight champion, will be out to make history by becoming the first boxer from Sada to win a world title.

“Boxing South Africa would like to send a message of support to both Team Mbenge and Team Ngxeke ahead of their massive bouts this weekend. It is already a demonstration of tenacity and resilience that both have made it to this far and we congratulate them for flying our flag high,” a BSA statement said on Friday.
