Mexican boxer José Manuel Salas Reyes defeated Landile ‘Man Down’ Ngxeke from Sada in the Eastern Cape at the Explanada de la Alcaldía Gustavo A. Madero in Mexico City, Mexico, on Sunday morning, South African time.
Fight referee Alfredo Uruzquieta from Mexico stopped the fight in the seventh round much to Ngxeke’s surprise. And following the stoppage, the unbeaten Reyes won the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title.
The Mexican started very well catching Ngxeke with some nice blows. However, he felt Ngxeke’s blows whenever the South African found the target.
Reyes has now taken his professional record to 17 wins with 11 knockouts. On the other hand, Ngxeke dropped to 18 victories with eight knockouts and two defeats.
