For some time, the identity of the boxer who is going to fight against Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni when the KwaBhaca-born former world champion dances for the last time inside the ring next month has been a “top secret”.
However, it’s not a secret anymore as Ink Sport can reveal that Sanele ‘Tornado’ Msimang has signed to face off against the erstwhile South African and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight champion. The two boxers are going to meet in a Ground Up Sports Promotions tournament scheduled for the Jan Smuts Stadium in KuGompo City on Saturday, 23 May.
“I’m coming to the Eastern Cape to fight against Nomeva. It’s gonna be his last fight. I’m gonna give him the fight he wants. We must give boxing followers what they want,” Msimang from Inchanga said.
Msimang has not fought since he suffered a first round stoppage loss to Ntethelelo Nkosi during an SA junior-welterweight title fight at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, in October 2024. The erstwhile World Boxing Federation (WBF) International junior-welterweight champion is also a former national lightweight title contender. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
