Orlando Pirates are on course to defend their MTN8 trophy after they defeated Argentina 10-man Durban City 2-1 in a quarter-final encounter at the
Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto on Saturday evening.
The Buccaneers took the lead in the 37th minute after Patrick Maswanganyi converted a penalty following a foul by Brooklyn Poggenpoel, who was red carded by natch referee, Jelly Chavani.
Seven minutes into the second half, Jean Lwamba from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) netted the equaliser for the Durban side.
Just as Chavani was preparing to blow the final whistle to signal the end of extra time, Gamphani Lungu scored the Buccaneers’ winning goal.
