Plans to take Luyanda ‘Pretty Boy’ Ntwanambe back to the top, which were set in motion when he left KuGompo City for Johannesburg two years ago, are still continuing.

In a bid to set Ntwanambe to South African title contentions, the former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa flyweight champion is scheduled to clash with Zolile Miya in a Gauteng flyweight title fight at the John Barreble Hall in Benoni on Friday, 6 November.

After being inactive for more than four years, Ntwanambe made a statement in his return as he stopped Rofhiwa Maphupha in the second round in August last year. Thereafter, he returned to KuGompo City where he drew with Lutho Gungutho at Hemmingways last December.

“We’ve been together for two years now and it’s very easy for me to work with him. We are gelling well together. He’s responding nicely to my training methods and we now know each other very well. The boy is superfit,” Ntwanambe’s trainer, Bernie Pailman, said.

Ntwanambe from Duncan Village in KuGompo City has been training very hard, doing road work in the morning and going to the gym in the evening.

“Everything is going very well. I’m ready for the fight even though I don’t know much about my opponent. It’s not gonna be a problem fighting against my opponent. I hope that he doesn’t know much about me as well,” Ntwanambe said.

Meanwhile, next month’s fight will pit two former SA flyweight title contenders as Ntwanambe lost to Jackson Chauke at the Boardwalk Casino, Gqeberha, in April 2021 and Miya was beaten by Nkosingiphile Sibisi in Estcourt in March last year. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
