The late former Vaal Reefs Stars and Ratanang Maholosiane goalkeeper Themba Biko is going to be buried in Tumahole township, Parys, in the Free State on Saturday.
Biko, who manned goals for both Vaal Reefs Stars and Maholosiane during the National Soccer League (NSL) era, passed away on Thursday last week aged 62. He played under former Bafana Bafana coaches Shakes Mashaba at Vaal Reefs Stars and Trott Moloto at Maholosiane.
Biko’s football career was cut short by a road accident, which left him with spinal injuries and confined him to a wheelchair. He was only 29 years old when he was involved in the accident together with his then Maholosiane teammates in October 1992.
