Reigning South African minimumweight champion Bangile Nyangani was only eight years old when Loyiso Ngantweni made his professional debut in September 2003.
Now the 41-year-old Ngantweni is going to attempt to wrestle the SA title away from Nyangani when they trade blows at the EFC Centre in Johannesburg on Thursday next week.
Ngantweni, who has 10 wins with nine knockouts, 15 losses and five draws, is confident that he’s going to dethrone the 27-year-old Nyangani from Bityi in Mthatha.
“The title is coming to me. I have worked very hard and I’m confident that I’m going to win it next week. I have watched some of Nyangani’s fights and I’m not going to have a problem next week,” Ngantweni from Mqanduli said.
Ngantweni, who is trained by former SA flyweight champion Makazole Tete, leaves for Johannesburg with his team on Sunday. Makazole together with his assistant and father Zolile Tete are going to be in Ngantweni’s corner.
Meanwhile, Nyangani will be making the first defence of the title he won when he dethroned Mdantsane boxer Siyakholwa Kuse in East London in July last year.
