With number one contender Thabang Ramagole having lost to Tiisetso Modisadife recently, veteran boxer Jackson ‘M3’ Chauke is now eyeing a South African flyweight title defence against yet another Eastern Cape boxer.

Already, Chauke has made three defences of his SA title since winning it against Ramagole in April 2019.  Interestingly, all his defences were against Eastern Cape boxers – Phumelela Cafu whom he drew with in March, Luyanda Ntwanambe and Sihle Jelwana.

“I will probably fight in a mandatory title defence in June. I was supposed to fight against Ramagole, who was a mandatory challenger. But he lost his recent fight,” Chauke said.

“I have to deal with the mandatory challenger. I think I’m going to meet (Sinethemba) Kotana. Then after that I will go for the WBO title before the end of this year or next year.”

Chauke, who turns 37 on 29 May, is rated number two by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and ninth by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
