Jermell Charlo is the new undisputed junior-middleweight champion after he stopped Argentine Brian Castano in the 10th round at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, United States on Sunday morning (South African time).

Following his victory over Castano, Charlo is now the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior-middleweight champion. The 31-year-old American is the first undisputed junior-middleweight champion in the four-belt era.

It was a brutal affair as 32-year-old Castano took the fight to Charlo. Charlo bid his time until he effectively used his left hook starting from round seven and stopped Castano in the 10th round.

Charlo has improved his record to 35 wins with 19 stoppages, a loss and a draw while Castano has won 17 fights (12 knockouts), a loss and two draws.
