Nomonde Tete, the mother of former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight champion Zolani Tete, has passed away.
It has been confirmed that Tete’s mom, who’s been on a wheelchair for some time, passed away on Thursday evening.
The deceased was also the mother of former South African flyweight champion-turned boxing trainer Makazole Tete.
“It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing on of our dearest mother Mrs Nomonde MamBhele Tete,” a statement from the Tete family said.
The death of Tete’s mom comes just as Zolani is preparing for his lBF International and Commonwealth junior-featherweight title fight against Jason Cunningham on Saturday, 2 July in the United Kingdom.
