There is no end in sight in the fight between Boxing South Africa (BSA) and TK Boxing Promotions boss Tshele Kometsi.
The Gauteng Boxing Promoters Association (GBPA) chairperson, who is facing a number of charges, was suspended by BSA on Monday.
He challenged his suspension and took the matter to the arbitration tribunal of BSA on Thursday. Independent arbitrator Charl May ruled in Kometsi’s favour saying the BSA board had no powers to suspend him.
“The board held a special meeting to consider the award. The board has resolved that the decision be reviewed in a court of law urgently and has instructed its attorneys to prepare the necessary papers,” a BSA statement said.
Kometsi’s troubles started after his credit card was allegedly used by some BSA officers last year something which led to the suspension of the organisation’s former chief financial officer Thabang Moses in February this year for allegedly sending a driver to withdraw R14 000 from the card. Moses resigned from BSA last month.
A four minutes and 48 seconds voice note, which made rounds last September, suggested that after a withdrawal was made, the money was lying around at the BSA offices in Hatfield, Pretoria.
