South African title challenger Rofhiwa Nemushungwa is ready to make history and become the first boxer to beat Ronald Malindi, so says his trainer Alan Toweel.
Nemushungwa challenges South African bantamweight champion Malindi at the Steve Tshwete Banquet Hall in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, on Friday evening.
“It’s been a long wait. It’s been a hard long road to get to the number one position. We are ready for the fight, we trained very hard,” Toweel remarked.
Toweel has acknowledged the fact that his boxer is coming up against an unbeaten opponent as Malindi has won all his 18 fights with half of those ending prematurely.
“It’s gonna be a tough fight. We are fighting against a champion who is unbeaten in 18 fights,” Toweel said.
“We want to become the first to beat Ronald. Remember, Rofhiwa has wanted this all his life. It has taken us a while to be in this position. We had wins, we had losses. Rofhiwa has never been dropped.”
Meanwhile, Matshidiso Mokebisi is going to clash with Katie Healy from Wolverhampton in a vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) female junior-featherweight title fight.
