Chippa United chairman Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi has said that the Chilli Boys’ 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates away on Sunday atoned for Wednesday’s 3-1 home loss to Royal AM.

The Chilli Boys boss said this after the club’s new mentor Daine Klate collected his first three points as a senior team coach.

This followed after Tanzanian Abdi Banda, who joined the Chilli Boys recently, scored the only goal of the match four minutes from full-time.

“It’s a good win against Pirates. But it must not stay in our heads. We must instil a culture of winning. It cannot be now you win one and lose five,” Mpengesi said.

Mpengesi made it clear that he was disappointed when the Chilli Boys were beaten 3-1 by Thwihli Thwahla at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.

“I was very disappointed for not beating Royal AM in our home ground. But our boys I thank them for winning because it’s redeeming us and there’s no better sorry for Wednesday,” he said.

Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys have now collected four points from three matches this season. They have won once, drawn once and lost one match.

Meanwhile, the Chilli Boys’ next match is away against Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday evening.
