Pitso Mosimane registered his first win as Al-Ahli Saudi FC coach after the club defeated Najran 2-1 at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah on Tuesday evening.
Al-Ahli came from behind to snatch victory in the dying minutes of the match after Coutinho had given Najran a lead on the stroke of half-time.
Abdullah Al-Mogren converted two penalties in the 54th minute and in referee’s added time to give his team the three points. This win came six days after Al-Ahli drew 1-1 with Jeddah away.
As a result of Tuesday’s win, Al-Ahli have moved up from seventh to fourth place of the Saudi Arabian Second Division standings. They have three wins, three draws and a loss.
Mosimane, a former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns coach, joined the Saudi club almost two weeks ago. His main task is to make sure that they return to top-flight football at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the next match for Mosimane’s boys is an away clash against Al Riyadh this coming Sunday.
