The Springbok women suffered a heart-breaking 21-17 loss to Fiji in a Women’s Rugby World Cup match at the Waitakere Stadium in Auckland on Sunday.
This was the second pool stages loss for the South Africans, who were beaten 40-5 by France in their opening match last Saturday.
They are now left with one match – against England, who have won their opening two matches. They face England in Auckland next Sunday.
The South Africans scored two tries through Zintle Mpupha and Aseza Hele with Libbie Janse van Rensburg being successful with the conversions. Janse van Rensburg also succeeded with a penalty.
Fiji, meanwhile, scored through Ilisapeci Delaiwau, Akanisi Sokoiwasa and Karalaini Naisewa. Lavena Cavuru succeeded with three conversions.
