George Maluleka has described AmaZulu’s 1-0 win over Stellenbosch FC on Sunday as a confidence booster ahead of this coming Saturday’s MTN8 final against Orlando Pirates.

AmaZulu face the Buccaneers in the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban at 18h00.

“Very big occasion. I think the mood is good. Obviously, from the win against Stellenbosch. That was a big confidence booster for the guys. I think we are in good spirits. Obviously, there’s a lot of work and planning this week ahead for Orlando Pirates,” Maluleka said.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United midfielder didn’t play against Stellies this past Sunday because Usuthu coach Romain Folz was being cautious ahead of the final as Maluleka is sitting on three yellow cards.

The 32-year-old Maluleka is hopeful going to the match as he wants to make sure that Usuthu win their first trophy since the 1992 triumph in the Coca-Cola Cup final against Chiefs.

“If we apply ourselves and make sure our game plan on the day is good to be honest we put ourselves in a better position to win the trophy,” Maluleka said.

Meanwhile, Usuthu’s 32-year-old coach Folz regards playing in the final as an accomplishment.

“It’s an accomplishment for both teams to make it to the final. It’s a well deserved for both teams to have made it to the final,” Folz said.
