Portugal beat Ghana 3-2 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup Group H match at the Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar, on Thursday evening. 

All five goals were scored in the second half with Cristiano Ronaldo having given the Portuguese the lead after he beat Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi for his eighth World Cup goal in the 65th minute. 

Moroccan-born United States referee Ismail Elfath awarded Portugal a penalty after Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu’s challenge on Ronaldo. 

The Black Stars equalised through their captain Andre Ayew, who was supplied by Muhammad Kudus in the 73rd minute. 

Six minutes after the Black Stars had scored their equaliser, Portugal regained their lead when Joao Felix beat Ati-Zigi to make it 2-1. Two minutes later, Rafael Leao netted Portugal’s third goal. 

Second half substitute Osman Bukari gave the Black Stars some hope of stealing a point when he netted their second goal in the 89th minute.  

Meanwhile, Uruguay and Korea Republic drew goalless at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan on Thursday afternoon.
