Grassroots football in the Eastern Cape has suffered a massive blow following the death of former Mthatha Bucks goalkeeper and coach Nigel Dixon, who succumbed to cancer on Thursday. He was 55.
The former school teacher joined Imbabala in 1987 and became one of the club’s star players when they were still based in Mthatha.
Dixon was in the Bucks team, which won the Coca-Cola Cup in 1993 and 1996. He later became the club’s coach before its demise after relocating from Mthatha to East London.
