Struggling Maritzburg United have announced the signing of Ghanaian forward Kwame Peprah to beef up their strikeforce for the straight run of the season.
The 22-year-old Peprah moved to the Team of Choice on loan from Orlando Pirates until the end of the current season. His contract with Pirates is going to expire at the end of June next year.
Peprah, who scored nine times in 38 matches for the Buccaneers, bolted out of Pirates after he failed to get game time this season. He only made six appearances this term.
Team of Choice coach Fadlu Davids desperately needs a sharp shooter as he attempts to take them out of the relegation zone. The Team of Choice are stone last on the DStv Premiership standings with 13 points from 15 matches. They have scored eight times and conceded 21 goals.
The Team of Choice have also announced the signing of 31-year-old Ali Meza and Bradley Cross on permanent contracts.
“I feel very excited to return to the club. I want to thank the club for opening the possibility of me returning to the team again and I hope I can help the team to be in the position they deserve,” Meza, who signed an 18 months contract, said.
The 22-year-old Bradley Cross, who is a former South African junior international, has joined tje Team of Choice on an 18 months contract with an option to renew for a further two years.
“Ali Meza is a fantastic player who gives us an attacking option with a different dimension. He knows the club well and we expect a big impact from him after his troubles with injuries. We made his assessment, and he is ready good to go,” Davids said.
“Bradley Cross is a player with a huge potential, and we are here to help him to develop his potential to become a top PSL player and we will assist him in getting him ready to compete at a PSL level. He comes with a huge pedigree having competed in the two giant European clubs now it’s a step for him to make an impact in the PSL and we expect big things from him.
“Kwame Peprah is a striker that propelled Pirates leading the attacking line into the Confederation Cup final and he has a huge pedigree in relation to his season at Pirates. I know him well; I know his strengths and I know how to utilise him. I am sure he will make a huge impact along with our other strikers.”
