Stellenbosch FC moved from 15th to 12th position after they came from behind to beat Cape Town City 3-2 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Danie Craven Stadium on Friday evening.
Lorenzo Gordinho gave the Citizens an early lead when he capitalised on a Stellies goalkeeper Sage Stephens’ blunder in the fifth minute.
Stellies had a great opportunity to level matters in the 14th minute, but Citizens goalkeeper Darren Keet denied Mervin Boji from a one-on-one situation.
Venezuelan Darwin Gonzalez made it 2-0 following a back heel pass from Juan Zapata inside the box in the 42nd minute after a counter attack.
Two minutes later, Devin Titus cut the Citizens’ celebrations as he halved the deficit when he netted for the Cape Winelands side. Titus completed his brace in the 55th minute following a cross from Junior Mendieta.
Stellies took the lead for the first time when Sinethemba Mngomezulu hit the roof of the net following a pass from Sibongiseni Mthethwa seven minutes before full-time.
