The handlers of International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga and Regie Suganob from the Philippines have been given until the 28th of March to conclude negotiations regarding a mandatory title defence.
The order from the IBF follows just days after the unbeaten 25-year-old Suganob defeated his Filipino compatriot Mark Mendoza Vicelles via a technical decision in an elimination bout held at the Calape Cultural Centre in Calape, Philippines, last Saturday.
Unbeaten Nontshinga is represented by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom while Floriezly Podot of PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions represents Suganob. Failure to come to an agreement will result in a purse bid where Nontshinga will be guaranteed a 65 percent cut.
Nontshinga has not fought since he had the IBF belt strapped around his waist following a split decision victory over then unbeaten Mexican Hector Flores in Hermosillo, Mexico, early in September last year.
The 24-year-old Nontshinga from East London has stopped nine of his opponents in his 11 victories while Suganob’s record stands at 13 wins with four stoppages.
