The Sharks on Monday confirmed the return of New Zealander and former All Blacks assistant coach John Plumtree as their head coach for the 2023/24 season. 

The 57-year-old Plumtree is going to be assisted by Warren Whiteley (forwards coach), Joey Mongalo (defence coach), Dave Williams (attack coach), Philip Lemmer (forwards coach) and Phiwe Nomlomo (kicking game and exits coach). 

Plumtree won the Currie Cup trophy with the Sharks as a player in 1990 and 1996. He then went on to win the Currie Cup trophy as a coach in 2008 and2010. 

Meanwhile, former Blitzboks mentor Neil Powell was confirmed as the Sharks director of rugby while erstwhile Springbok winger JP Pietersen is their juniors coach.
