Mamelodi Sundowns returned to the top of the DStv Premiership table after they defeated Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday afternoon.

A mistake committed by Amakhosi goalkeeper Brandon Petersen resulted in a goal by Sundowns new recruit Lucas Ribeiro Costa in the 21st minute.

Petersen kicked the ball straight to Sundowns players and Peter Shalulile sent a pass to Ribeiro, who didn’t hesitate to score his second goal in two matches.

Amakhosi tried everything in an effort to get an equaliser and Ashley du Preez breached the Sundowns defence to level matters in 84th minute.

Just as it looked like the match would end in a draw, Neo Maema popped in to net the Brazilians’ winning goal in referee’s added time.

Meanwhile, it’s two out of two for Cape Town City as they beat Moroka Swallows 1-0 through Taahir Goedeman’s goal at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.
