World champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga is going to receive a special award at next week’s Eastern Cape Sport and Achievers Awards event in East London.
Nontshinga is the current International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion and he successfully defended his title with a win over Filipino boxer Regie ‘Filipino Phenom’ Suganob at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) two months ago.
The awards ceremony, which is going to be held next Friday, will recognise and celebrate individuals, federations and teams that have excelled both on and off the field for the period between 1 June 2022 and 30 July 2023.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Nontshinga is scheduled to make a voluntary defence of his title against Adrian Curiel Dominguez from Mexico in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on Saturday, 4 November.
