That Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha trains at United Boxing Club three days a week has not been disputed by both the boxer and Paradise Boxing Club manager Thembelani ‘Shakes’ Hlombe.
However, both Tyirha and Hlombe have insisted that the former South African junior-flyweight champion has not joined Amanda ‘Jahman’ Magatya’s United Boxing Club in Mdantsane.
“We have an arrangement with Man. The arrangement is that my boxers train twice a week in Nxarhuni and then train three days at United Boxing Club,” Hlombe said.
Contacted for comment, Tyirha said: “No, I go there to train with the other boxers from our gym. We just work at their gym as boxers from ta Shakes’ stable.”
Magatya, who is the chief trainer at United Boxing Club, said: “Please, let’s not talk about this.”
Tyirha is working his way back to full fitness following a shock sixth round stoppage loss to George Kandulo from Malawi at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) two months ago.
The Malawian was a late replacement following Filipino boxer Lito Dante’s failure to travel to South Africa for a fight against Tyirha.
