The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the prize money for the inaugural African Football League competition. 

The winners are going to smile all the way to the bank with $4 million (about R75 million) and the runners-up are guaranteed $3 million (about R57 million).

Semi-finalists will pocket $1.7 millon (about R32 million) and teams that get knocked out in the quarter-finals will receive $1 million (about R19 million). 

The tournament is set to begin with a clash between Tanzanian side Simba SC and Egyptian giants Al Ahly at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar-Es-Salaam, on Friday, 20 October. 

South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns were pitted against Petro Luanda from Angola while Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club face Nigerians Enyimba.

Tunisian club Esperance de Tunis have been drawn against TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
