Bafana Bafana got off to a positive start in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group C qualifiers as they beat Benin 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday afternoon.

Coach Hugo Broos’ boys made their intentions clear as early as the third minute when Al Ahly star forward Percy Tau gave them a 1-0 lead for his 14th goal in a Bafana shirt.

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau scored his first ever goal in Bafana colours when he made it 2-0 in referee’s added time.

Bafana took their foot off the pedal in the second half and that resulted in the Beninese pulling one back through Steve Michel Mounie in the 70th minute.
