Sikho ‘Sequence’ Nqothole outpointed Namibian opponent Jonas Matheus at the Box Camp Booysens in Johannesburg on Saturday evening.

After 10 rounds of action, all the three judges nodded in agreement that Mthatha-born Nqothole had done enough to win the international junior-bantamweight bout.

Judges Duduzile Dlamini and Riaan Janse van Rensburg had Nqothole winning by 98-92 in their score cards and Tony Nyangiwe’s score card read 96-94.

Nqothole improved his record to 18 wins (11 knockouts) and two defeats while Matheus dropped to 15 victories (two stoppages), seven losses and a draw.

Meanwhile, Shaun Potgieter stopped former South African and African Boxing Union (ABU) heavyweight champion Joshua Pretorius in the third round in the main supporting bout.
