Briton Sunny Edwards fully understands the threat posed by world champion Moruti ‘Babyface’ Mthalane in his quest to dethrone the South African boxer.
Edwards challenges International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight champion Mthalane at York Hall, Bethnal Green, London in the United Kingdom (UK) this coming Friday.
“Moruti is the most criminally overrated fighter. He is a proper, proper threat,” Edwards told British Boxing News.
“I asked for this fight. In my head, this is what was coming to me and it is finally here and I have got what I wanted. Now it’s my chance to prove myself and this will be the best benchmark I could have.”
The 25-year-old Edwards, who is unbeaten in 15 fights, has insisted that Mthalane is the real deal.
“He is legit as they come. A big puncher, 41 fights, 39 wins and 26 knockouts. Moruti is no pushover by any stretch of the imagination. He is a very, very good fighter,” Edwards said.
Meanwhile, Mthalane together with his trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan, his stablemate Cayden Truter and second Hayden Jones left Tunisia for London via Paris on Tuesday.
Team Mthalane camped in Tunis, Tunisia, for more than a week while finalising the world champion’s preparations for the fight.
