World champion Moruti ‘Babyface’ Mthalane and his adversary Sunny Edwards from the United Kingdom (UK) have prepared themselves to go the full 12 rounds when they collide on Friday.
Mthalane will be making a fourth defence of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight crown when he faces Edwards at York Hall, Bethnal Green, London.
“Everything was perfect. Everything went well,” Lindelani-born Mthalane said referring to the camp they had in Tunis, Tunisia, before he travelled to London together with his trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan, his stablemate Cayden Truter and second Hayden Jones.
“We made the weight during the weigh-in. I’m looking forward to Friday night. To all my fights I have never had knockout predictions. I go for the full 12 rounds, if a knockout comes, it’s a bonus.”
Edwards, meanwhile, has also echoed the same sentiments in as far as going the full distance is concerned.
“I think I will have to move around and have a look for the whole 12 rounds. You don’t go head on against an immovable object. I’ve got to try and work around it for as long as I can,” Edwards told London News Online.
“He has proved time and time again that he will be the away fighter, even as a world champion. You have to understand the beast I’m getting in the ring with.”
