Senegal marched to the second round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament after they whipped Cameroon 3-1 in a Group C match at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, on Friday evening.
The Teranga Lions shot to the lead following Ismaila Sarr’s goal in the 16th minute after Andre Onana had punched the ball straight into his opponents’ path.
The Senegalese doubled the lead in the 71st minute when Mouhamada Diallo netted off Ismaila Sarr’s cross.
Indomitable Lions’ Jean-Charles Castelletto gave Cameroon some hope when he reduced the deficit seven minutes before full-time.
However, Senegal star Sadio Mane made sure that the Teranga Lions marched to the next round as he netted his team’s third goal in referee’s added time.
