A triumphant Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga and his trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan have laughed off rumours that the boxer was struggling with weight.
Nontshinga turned on the magic as he reclaimed the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title after he stopped Mexican boxer Adrian Curiel Dominguez in the 10th round at the Guelaguetza Auditorium in Oaxaca, Mexico, on Saturday morning (South African time).
“I didn’t have problems with my weight going to the fight. I’m just the biggest junior-flyweight boxer. I have never had weight problems,” Nontshinga remarked.
Nathan said: “It wasn’t so much the weight, the scale wasn’t accurate thus it was changed. Sive is a big junior-flyweight. At the end of the day, he always makes the weight like a professional. For me, people were always going to talk. Who was the stronger fighter going to the 10th round? You can’t tell me that Sive battled with the scales.”
Meanwhile, Nontshinga, Nathan, Thembani Gopheni and Bernie Pailman are going to land at the OR International Airport in Kempton Park at 10h55 on Tuesday.
