Royal AM earned three valuable points after they beat Richards Bay FC 2-1 in a DStv Premiership clash at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban, on Saturday evening.
Thwihli Thwahla opened the scoring through Motebang Sera’s penalty seven minutes into the second half. Match referee Masixole Bambiso awarded Thwihli Thwahla the penalty after Lwandile Mabuya had fouled Menzi Masuku inside the box.
Five minutes later, Thwihli Thwahla made it 2-0 from the penalty spot yet again. Masuku, who was fouled by Natal Rich Boyz captain Simphiwe Mcineka, dusted himself and scored from the penalty spot.
Second half substitute Yanela Mbuthuma cut the deficit when he netted from another replqcement Somila Ntsundwana’s cross in the 74th minute.
Meanwhile, a 10-man Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows played to a goalless draw at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, in an earlier match.
Amakhosi finished the match with 10 players after their Mozambican-born defender Dove Wome was red carded for a foul on Swallows striker Gabadinho Mhango from Malawi.
