Bongani ‘Wonderboy’ Mahlangu’s fight against Botswana national Tefo Letshikgwane, which was scheduled for Fairground Holdings in Gaborone this coming Saturday, has been called off.
Mahlangu’s trainer Sandile Mahlangu told Ink Sport that they received a message on Tuesday informing them about the cancellation of the fight, which was going to be an African Boxing Union (ABU) junior-featherweight strap.
“I received a letter telling us that the fight had been cancelled. It’s said that the fight was cancelled because of a number of reasons,” Sandile Mahlangu said.
The letter arrived as the Mahlangu brothers from Boipatong were preparing to leave for Botswana on Tuesday.
With the Letshikgwane fight having been cancelled, the 44-year-old Mahlangu will now focus on the defence of his South African junior-featherweight title against Mzuvukile Magwaza next month.
