Filipino boxing trainer Julius Erving Junco, who trains Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta, reckons that Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga’s fight against Jonathan ‘Bomba’ Gonzalez will be a boring affair.
Nontshinga, an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion, and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) titlist Gonzalez are pencilled to fight in a unification bout in Puerto Rico on Saturday, 15 June (Sunday, 16 June, South African time).
“Bomba against Special One will be a boring fight for non casual fans,” the Omega Boxing Gym chief trainer said.
It’s clear that Junco is not pleased with Nontshinga getting into a unification bout instead of fighting against Araneta, who is the IBF mandatory challenger.
The 25-year-old Nontshinga from the Eastern Cape defeated Araneta on points in an IBF elimination bout at the Boardwalk Hotel in Gqeberha in April 2021.
