Bongani ‘Wonderboy’ Mahlangu has not stopped training even though it looks like his proposed fight against Mzuvukile ‘Old Bones’ Magwaza is not happening anymore.
The age-defying Mahlangu was said to be defending his South African junior-featherweight title against Magwaza later this month. However, it doesn’t look like that fight will go ahead as Magwaza has not signed a contract.
“We signed a contract to fight against Magwaza. And we are training very hard at the moment,” Sandile Mahlangu, who trains the 44-year-old champion, remarked.
With knockout artist and KwaZulu-Natal bright star Mxolisi ‘Nation’ Zuma having filled a challenge form, Sandile said that Mahlangu will defend against anyone willing to face him.
Zuma, who only took a minute and 46 seconds to stop Tanzanian boxer Shedafa John to win the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental junior-featherweight title in Estcourt in March, has a very impressive record, having stopped all his seven opponents.
“We have heard about Zuma having signed a challenge form. We have no problem in fighting against him. Actually, we are willing to fight against anyone who’s prepared to face us,” Sandile said. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
