A process to appoint a new Boxing South Africa (BSA) board is drawing to a close as Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa together with his deputy Nocawe Mafu have called a meeting with all relevant boxing stakeholders.

Kodwa announced a new BSA board in November last year, but it was successfully interdicted by the National Professional Boxing Promoters Association (NPBPA) citing non-consultation. And it has turned out – according to last month’s court ruling that the NPBPA didn’t have a locus standi

“This serves as a formal meeting invitation with the Minister and Deputy Minister for consultation of the upcoming appointment of the Boxing SA board,” a letter from Nontsikelelo Baqwa, the chief of staff at the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, said.

The proposed two-hour virtual meeting is scheduled to start at 9am this coming Friday. Thereafter, Kodwa will announce the seven-member BSA board on Wednesday next week.
