Former South African junior-flyweight champion Nhlanhla Tyirha is going to meet his Filipino opponent Joey Canoy for the first time on Wednesday.
Tyirha and Canoy, who clash in a 10 rounds bout at East London’s International Convention Centre (ICC) this coming Friday, are going to face each other for the first time at a pre-fight medical check-up at the ICC Hotel at 10am.
Xaba Promotions boss Ayanda Matiti announced on Tuesday that all the 14 boxers, who are going to fight on Friday, have tested negative to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Uppercut Promotions is going to have its pre-fight medical check-up at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni, at 10h30am on Wednesday.
Uppercut Promotions’ tournament is headlined by a World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver International junior-flyweight clash between Hekkie Budler and Jonathan Almacen from the Philippines. The tournament is set for the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Saturday, 22 May.
