Excitement has taken over Uppercut Promotions boss Cyril Lehong’s heart as the day of his maiden tournament is drawing closer.
The tournament, which is headlined by a World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver International junior-flyweight contest between six-time world champion Hekkie Budler and Jonathan Almacen from the Philippines is going to be held at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg.
Almacen and his trainer Joemarie Gamboa arrived in South Africa from the Philippines on Monday.
“I’m excited that Almacen and his trainer have arrived. I’m looking forward to a very good tournament,” Lehong said.
This is going to be Budler’s first fight since he lost to Japanese boxer Hiroto Kyoguchi in December 2018.
“You know Hekkie is always exciting to watch. It’s gonna be an exciting tournament, I can’t wait,” said Lehong.
Meanwhile, Gamboa has predicted that the fight won’t go the distance as he declared they prepared thoroughly for the duel.
“My boxer is very prepared to fight Budler. I believe the opponent is good. My boxer is going to win by a knockout,” Gamboa said.
