Yanga ‘Showtime’ Sigqibo is fixing his eyes on the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-bantamweight title as he has challenged current champion Ricardo Malajika.
Sigqibo has signed to challenge Malajika, who successfully defended his crown against Briton Marcel Braithwaite at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park two months ago.
The 32-year-old former SA junior-bantamweight champion from Duncan Village in East London is rated 11th by the IBO and is 14th in the World Boxing Council (WBC) ratings.
On the other hand, this is going to be Malajika’s second defence of the title he won when he defeated Argentine boxer Kevin Luis Munoz in September last year.
