Bafana Bafana might have defeated their neighbours Zimbabwe 3-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, but their coach Hugo Broos is adamant that it’s still too early to celebrate.

This is so because Bafana are second behind Rwanda in Group C even though they are tied on seven points after four matches. The Rwandans occupy the top position because of a better goal difference.

“There’s still a long way to go. There are still six games. So there’s a lot to lose and also a lot to win. For the moment, we win the games at home, which is very important. So let’s go on like this and if we can go on like this, there’s a big chance we will qualify,” Broos said.

Bafana’s goals in the match against the Zimbabwe Warriors came from Iqraam Rayners and Thapelo Morena’s brace while Tawanda Chirewa netted for the Zimbabweans.

Meanwhile, Bafana are left with six matches against Lesotho (twice), Benin (away), Nigeria (home), Zimbabwe (away) and Rwanda (home).
