South African junior-welterweight champion Ntethelelo Nkosi’s clash against Sanele Msimang in a bout pitting KwaZulu-Natal boxers against each other, which was scheduled for next month, has now been moved to October.

The latest developments around the fight were revealed by Golden Gloves managing director Rodney Berman.

“I’m putting the fight in October instead of August. I had to move it because I have so many fights next month,” Berman remarked.

Mtubatuba-born Nkosi, who is trained by Damien Durandt in Johannesburg, will be making the first defence of the title he captured after he stopped Prince Dlomo in the ninth round in November last year.

Meanwhile, next month’s tournament is going to be headlined by an International Boxing Organisation (IBO)  junior-bantamweight title contest between reigning champion Ricardo Malajika and challenger Yanga Sigqibo.

Malajika will be making the second defence of the belt he won after he defeated Argentine boxer Kevin Luis Munoz in September last year. He outpointed Marcel Braithwaite from the United Kingdom three months ago. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
