Orlando Pirates earned three points when they beat AmaZulu 1-0 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Thursday evening.
Malawian Gabadinho Mhango scored the only goal of the match from a free kick outside the box in the 76th minute.
The Buccaneers, who are fourth on the Premiership standings, have since collected 46 points from 27 matches while second-placed Usuthu are stuck in 50 points in 28 games.
This is the second successive match that Usuthu lost having been beaten by the same scoreline by Baroka FC a few weeks ago.
