Owethu Rula is going to feature in one of the two boxing tournaments, which are scheduled to be held in two different municipalities in the Eastern Cape on Saturday, 23 November.
Rula from Gqeberha is set to defend her Eastern Cape flyweight title against Mihle Tuli at the Tambo Village Hall in Langa, Kariega, in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMBM).
She will go to this fight on the back of a loss to South African female junior-flyweight champion Nozwelethu Mathontsi when she challenged for the national title in December last year. In fact, Rula lost twice to Mathontsi in her bid to win the SA title as her first loss was in August last year.
On the other hand, Tuli last fought when she defeated Nothando Ncube in a six rounds bout at the Scenery Park Hall, East London, in March this year.
Meanwhile, another tournament is set for the Orient Theatre in East London, Buffalo City Metro, where unheralded reigning South African featherweight champion Zolisa Batyi will defend his title against Abdul-Aziz Kunert in a rematch of their August 2023 fight.
This is going to be the fourth time Batyi defends the title he won when he stopped former champion Jeff Magagane in the second round at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane, in December 2022.
