Khanyisani Mbokazi from Mandeni in KwaZulu-Natal is set to collide with Asanda Gingqi in a South African title contest in East London next month.
Mbokazi will be attempting to wrestle the SA junior-lightweight title away from Gingqi when they clash at the Orient Theatre on Saturday, 14 December. Initially, this shootout was scheduled for Sunday, 24 November.
Rated number six in the latest Boxing South Africa (BSA) ratings, Mbokazi, a KwaZulu-Natal champion, defeated Tholumusa Ngema at the Estcourt Town Hall in March this year.
Mbokazi has a professional record of five wins, five losses and a draw compared to Gingqi, who has 13 victories with eight stoppages and a loss.
Meanwhile, Mdantsane-born Gingqi will be making the second defence of the title he won when he defeated Sifiso Hlongwane in Orlando East, Soweto, in August last year.
Gingqi successfully defended his crown with a win over Thembani Mbangatha at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in East London last December. And he overcame Filipino boxer Jufel Salina at the Orient Theatre in June this year.
