Knockout specialist Mxolisi ‘Nation’ Zuma from Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, is aiming to challenge reigning South African junior-featherweight champion Siyabulela ‘Showtime’ Hem in the new year.
The 21-year-old Hem is fresh from a third round technical knockout victory over ageing Bongani ‘Wonderboy’ Mahlangu, who’s 24 years his senior, at the Orient Theatre in East London on Saturday evening.
“I’m going to speak to my management and we will definitely challenge him this time around. I was due to have challenged him, but couldn’t do so because I already had a commitment to fight for the ABU title,” Zuma said.
With nine victories and nine knockouts, the 26-year-old Zuma strongly believes that he can dethrone Hem from Duncan Village in East London. Interestingly, Hem also has nine professional fights, however, he has seven wins with four stoppages, a loss and a draw.
“I will fight against him anywhere in the country. I can even go to East London, I’m not afraid of him. One day it’s would be seen as to who’s the best in our division,” the African Boxing Union (ABU) champion remarked. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
