Ludumo Lamati came good and won a world title following a difficult fight against Mexican boxer José Martin Estrada Garcia at the Emperors Palace in Kempton on Saturday evening.
Lamati outpointed Garcia to win the vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-featherweight crown after 12 gruelling rounds.
Meanwhile, former IBO welterweight champion Thulani Mbenge became the first boxer to beat Jabulani Makhense.
Mbenge stopped Makhense in the third round to win the World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African welterweight title.
