Banyana Banyana defeated Botswana 3-2 in a Three Nations Challenge opening match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville west of Pretoria on Wednesday afternoon.
Banyana raced to a 2-0 lead inside the first 20 minutes of the match with goals from Adrielle Mibe in the 13th minute and Jermaine Seopelosenwe four minutes later. Seoposenswe completed her brace nine minutes before the half-time break.
Three minutes before the break, Duduetsang Radiokanye netted Botswana’s first goal after she lobbed the ball over Banyana goalkeeper Kaylin Swart, who was off her line. And Phenyoyaone Moloi made it 3-2 wen she netted for Botswana in the 63rd minute.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s Copper Queens will open their Three Nations Challenge campaign against the Mares in Atteridgeville on Saturday before they face Banyana at the same venue at 15h00 on Tuesday next week.
